Independent, award-winning agency seeks ambitious Principal Medical Writer or Senior Medical Writer seeking a step up to Principal Medical Writer level.

Maybe you are longing to move away from large-agency culture and want to join an agile, responsive team where you can really make a difference? This new role, created due to the agency’s growing need for science-based content, could be perfect if you are looking for a new challenge. There is no cap on salary - you will be paid according to your experience and ambition.

The agency

This fast-growing 25-person agency delivers highly effective, insight-driven medical communication and education programmes predominantly for global clients. As part of this growth, it is seeking an experienced Principal Medical Writer or ambitious Senior Medical Writer to strengthen its Scientific Services team. The agency’s point of difference comes from its focus on the creative side of med comms, so the ideal candidate is creative as well as scientific.

The Principal Medical Writer role

The agency is looking for an experienced writer with a minimum of five years’ agency experience in a writing and editorial capacity. If you do not have the requisite experience but know you can nail this, the agency would still love to meet you, therefore Senior Medical Writers looking to step up are welcome to apply. The role reports into the Head of Scientific Services and offers the flexibility of part work from home (two days per week) if that appeals.

The work

The agency delivers creative campaigns and programmes ‘end to end’ with less of a focus on the marketing side of med comms. There is a huge variety of work including both internal and external comms and a sizeable number of films. Your deliverables will include oral congress presentations, client internal communications, patient support materials, training manuals, websites, scripts, abstracts, posters, print items, multimedia and social media.

Role requirements

You need to demonstrate skills in producing a range of medical communication and education materials for diverse stakeholder audiences and an ability to interface with clients and healthcare professionals alike. You relish the challenge of a new therapy area, the science behind the drug and the difference it can make to patients. Your work will cover a variety of disease areas and specific therapy experience is not required.

Core responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality content for creative medical education

• Become the main scientific contact for the accounts you work on

• Co-lead the development of strategic communication plans

• Facilitate workshop sessions with clients

• Oversee quality of all the scientific deliverables on the accounts you oversee

• Develop, create and revise editorial and QC processes and procedures

• Act as the scientific lead at pitch presentations

Experience and competencies required

• Life science degree

• Highest quality scientific writing

• Client-focused attitude

• Strong presentation, interpersonal and communications skills

• Excellent attention to detail, with good grammar and syntax skills

• Exquisite organisational skills

Salary and benefits

The basic salary is cap-free, extremely competitive and will take into account your level of experience. A quarterly discretionary bonus reflects both the agency’s performance and your own. The agency is also big on personal training and development with different training programmes for all levels of seniority far above the norm.

If you are excited about joining a thriving boutique agency, have passion and drive, enjoy delivering beyond expectations and want to be part of a growing team, please send us your CV today.

To be considered for this role, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Whilst every effort is made to contact everyone who applies, due to a high number of applications we are unable to give individual feedback to those who are unsuccessful.
