Client Services Director – Specialist Charity / Fundraising Agency – Central London - To £90k

Creative charity / fundraising agency with a digital slant seeks an experienced team leader to join them as their new Client Services Director.

You will oversee the account handling department and the agency’s portfolio of charity / fundraising clients.

You could be an existing Client Services Director, a Business Director / Group Account Director or an experienced Senior Account Director looking to step up.

Experience working on charity / fundraising clients is preferred and could prove an advantage but isn’t essential.

Your primary responsibilities are to ensure that the agency’s clients receive outstanding service and that you inspire, motivate and manage its Client Services Team.

You will build and nurture long-lasting relationships to ensure that client retention, satisfaction and profitability remain high.

The agency’s current CSD moves on in October, therefore an Autumn start date would be ideal.


You’re ambitious and thrive on speaking with clients, as well as leading and managing a team. You’re an expert in seeking out and developing new growth opportunities with existing clients, as well as spotting and converting new business opportunities.

You have at least seven years’ agency experience, with more than three years at and beyond Account Director level. You may be moving on from a Senior Account Director / Group Account Director / Business Director position and feel you’re ready for the next step up in Client Services.

As the agency’s Client Services Director, you will play a key role establishing and maintaining its culture of delighting clients.

You’ll have a high level of understanding of the challenges clients face across multiple sectors and marketing channels, and the ability to make recommendations based on experiences in your field, both to the internal team and clients – as well as their stakeholders and suppliers.

You are commercially aware and keen to be part of the senior management team of an ambitious agency, working directly with the co-founders.

The kind of person they are looking for

  • Proactive, calm, rational under pressure, flexible, diplomatic, friendly, diligent and persuasive
  • Proven leadership experience in growing, managing and inspiring individuals and teams. You know how to retain (and hire) talented people
  • Aware of the bigger strategic and financial challenges clients face, you also know what is required to retain those clients, develop new opportunities and drive revenue growth
  • Strong financial and business acumen and an understanding of how agencies achieve targets, grow and make profit. You can analyse figures and present recommendations to both team and founders
  • A wealth of account management experience, having brought on new clients and grown existing accounts. You’ve built strong relationships with those clients in the past and are adept at maintaining and deepening client relationships
  • Exceptional new business and client-facing skills and comfortable with senior-level client negotiations
  • You know digital, broadcast, direct mail, print and non-traditional media as well as interactive / online marketing programs that go beyond the norm such as affiliate and peer-to-peer programs
  • Fluent, clear and articulate in verbal communication, you understand the value of listening as much as talking
  • In-depth knowledge of the charity, education and membership organisation sectors would be beneficial, but is not essential

Salary and benefits

Salary for this role ranges from £75k to £90k based on experience with some excellent additional benefits.
